We All Need College Essay Assistance

By Olivia Cross

The majority of people, from all over the world; from as far afield as London, UK or Stamford CT (Connecticut), want to go to college for a degree. However many students are not expecting the work to be as difficult. Moreover many people need college essay assistance; from older students, professionals or online essay writing site.

Such websites must be bypassed, as it is an easy but dangerous option. Purchasing papers online is known as plagiarism, in other words, theft of someone else's work. You may get away with failing the essay if you are caught. But you are more likely to be kicked out and in extreme cases possibly arrested. Plagiarism is an intellectual minefield but most colleges have plagiarism software so you will get caught. Even copying and pasting some ideas that are not your own with no credit to the author, or trying to pass them off as your own work is plagiarism.

It is possible to use ideas and theories of other academics, documentaries or website if their work is referenced properly. Referencing is a tricky thing to get the hang off but important. You can reference ideas by quoting the information as it appears in another source ("Mark Antony killed his mother"), or by paraphrasing (It is said mark Antony killed his mother). After these you need a reference, either in the text or an endnote or footnote in a format like this (author date: page). This is vital so readers can see where you obtained your information.

So we have now discussed the problem of referencing, the most important aspect of a college essay is the research. This can be difficult and complex because it is important to read a lot to write an essay. If one source gives a referenced fact you can check their original source which will give more information about a topic, and means you can expand on an idea, or reinterpret the original source. If you don't agree with their ideas this can form the central argument of the essay.

If you disagree with one author's arguments over another, you must explain why, using evidence to prove why you disagree, or why their argument has been disproved. Even if you feel passionate about something avoid generalisations (all women are terrible drivers)unless there is extensive evidence to prove it. And remember you must reference it as well.

Although making your arguments is essential for an A* essay, it is essential that the essay answers the question being asked, not the question that you want to answer. It may seem obvious but it is very easy to get distracted by research that interests you, but is not actually what is needed.

Once the essay is completed; with a beautiful introduction, well argued evidence and a conclusion. Every quote and idea has been referenced to the original writer so now you must produce a bibliography. This is a list of books, websites and articles referenced in the essay. NOT everything read for the essay. Some stuff you read will not be relevant to the final essay. Check school style guides needed for the bibliography and referencing.

You now have enough time to proof read your essay before you hand it in on time. Don't lose marks with poor spelling and typos.
