Finding Different Las Vegas Events For New Tourists

By Patty Goff

Las Vegas, the capital of Nevada, was first founded in 1905 on 110 acres of land near the Union Pacific Railroad. This area would eventually become the modern day downtown area for the city. Today, Las Vegas NV is a highly popular tourist destination in the United States, with millions of visitors each year. Many tourists flock to the area for the various Las Vegas Events the city offers.

Many people like doing water sports; however, being in the desert, the beach is not very close by. So, to get some water activity, many visitors go to the Bellagio, where they have a large, Italian villa, with an indoor fountain. Guests can spend the day at the fountain and enjoy getting wet, which can be a cool relief from the hot sun.

If you enjoy sports, there are many sporting events that are held in Las Vegas NV every year. The city has a long history of hosting big boxing matches, with such well-known fighters as Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and Floyd Mayweather. Also, mixed martial arts (MMA) fighting has also become increasingly popular in recent years, with originations such as the UFC and Bellator holding events in the city quite often. Many of these events are held at the Mandalay Bay Resort.

Weddings are also very popular in Las Vegas. Many people who do not want a traditional wedding, or who just want to elope, travel to the city to get married. There are many wedding chapels in the area, including the Little White Wedding Chapel. This is where Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow got married, so it has become somewhat famous. Many chapels also offer Elvis impersonators for those who like that style of wedding.

Another favorite activity is visiting the bars around the city. There are many popular bars such as Andre Rochat and the Downtown Cocktail Room. For those who prefer shopping, the Strip is a very popular shopping area, with hundreds of stores available. There are also double-decker buses that travel up and down the Strip and also travel to the Downtown area.

Once you have seen your show or performance, you can enjoy some of the other activities the city has to offer. The Hard Rock Hotel has a large swimming pool with sandy beaches and waterfall that allows guests to take a swim when the weather gets too hot. Guests can even swim-up to the pool edge to play blackjack. The hotel also hosts pool parties on many evenings.

Shopping is also a favorite pastime of visitors. There are numerous shops and boutiques along the strip. You can also go shopping in Caesars Palace in the Forum Shops which are set up in old-Roman style, but which include many designer outlets as well. Many stores are open until midnight on weekends. Visitors can also shop at the Fashion Show Mall, which has a large projection screen that hovers over the center.

Before you book your trip, plan it out very carefully. Purchase your event tickets first so that you will not be disappointed. Then you can add other activities to full up the rest of the time.
