By Ben Kingsley

CA Criminal records comprises of reports generated by a number of law enforcing agencies of California. These reports can be police reports, arrest, drugs and even reports for traffic violations. All of these reports have one thing in common: they all contain details about the offenses that a resident of California has committed.

Criminal records in California are issued to people who have been reported to have violated any of the laws of the state or the nation. The said document would have details on violations that the person has committed. Information as to when and where the crime has been committed is indicating on the document. The arrest details can also be found on the file. The complete name of the reported individual is indicated on the record. One can also find the date and place where the person was born. Additional information would include the name of the officer who handled the case and a photograph or the mug shot of the individual.

Criminal records are not only used by investigators and authorities when they are investigating a criminal case. Even ordinary residents of the state would look into the criminal records of other individuals. They do this to determine the identity of the people that they interact with regularly. This helps them to feel safe and secured around people in their neighborhood or workplace. Employers are also one of the people who look into the criminal records of California. By looking into the criminal history of the people that works for them, they would be able to know the background of their people preventing any issues that may occur in the future.

Unfortunately, making the criminal records public or open for public access poses a problem to the person involved. Those who previously have a criminal history are having difficulties landing a good job. Many have reported that they experienced discrimination and unfair treatment from their colleagues and bosses and they are the last to be promoted. This is the reason why people who have minor criminal charges prefer to expunge or seal their records from public access.

The state of California allows its residents to request for a copy of their personal criminal records. Those who need to request for a copy of other people's file would have to secure a special court order. One has to provide a request form with the information about the document being retrieved. It is also important to indicate one's personal details on the request form in order to proceed with the search. The office of the Department of Public Safety in California is where one can request for such document. The search can be done by personally going to the said office. A mail request can also be sent but this method may take days before the document can be obtained.

The Internet has helped speed up the process. Criminal records free to public view are now available over the Internet. This method can save you time and energy since the request can be done even without leaving the comforts of your own home.
