How To Advertise In Belize

By Larry Clark

The employment of marketing communication to sell and promote commodities is called advertising. There are many reasons why companies participate in the advertisement of commodities. They often intend to achieve something at the end of the exercise. Here is some information that may help one when they decide to advertise in Belize. It is often advisable to have some background information about a subject before engaging in it fully.

Advertising has a very long history and it can be traced in many ancient civilizations. In Egypt, wall posters and sales messages were made using papyrus while the in Ancient Arabia, political campaign displays and commercial messages have been discovered in Pompeii ruins. Ancient Rome and Ancient Greek also commonly engaged in lost and found advertisements. Another major indication of the use of advertising in the ancient world is wall and rock painting.

Rock and wall paintings for commercial advertising have been identified in many regions of all the continents. Wall painting has been determined to have originated from Indian rock art paintings, which are as old as the 4000 BC. Evidence from Classic of Poetry show that ancient China used oral techniques in advertising. Bamboo flutes were played when selling candy to attract people.

Besides being used to promote and sell products and services, advertising is also used in reassuring shareholders and employees of the success and viability of a company. Commercial adverts increase the level of consumption of commodities through branding. Branding helps consumers to associate certain commodities with certain qualities. Messages used in advertising are often paid for by sponsors and they are viewed through various media outlets.

Different media outlets are used to air including direct mail, magazines, television, text messages, newspapers, the internet, and radio. Commercial and non-commercial advertisers are the two major kinds of advertisers in existence today. Like the name suggests, commercial advertisers are involved with advertising consumer commodities and they are usually businesses.

Non-commercial advertisers advertise non-consumer products, and services. Non-commercial advertisers include religious organizations, interest groups, political parties, and governmental agencies. They may employ public service announcement and other free modes of persuasion. The estimated global expenditure on advertising was 592.43 billion US Dollars in 2015. Internationally, four main advertising conglomerates command the industry. These are WPP, Publicis, Interpublic, and Omnicom.

Products and services can be advertised in any medium. Commercial advertising is done in media such as wall paintings, mobile telephone screens, cinema, web banners, in-flight advertisements, bathrooms stalls, posters, billboards, town criers, and skywriting among others. In Belize, types of advertising in use are many. They include television, radio, press, billboard, mobile billboard, informercials, online, in-store, coffee cup, domain name, sheltered outdoor, and street advertising.

There are many efforts in place to regulate content and influence of advertising as a way of protecting the interests of the public. An example or regulation is where many countries have restricted the advertisement of tobacco on television. One area of this industry that is being debated over hotly is advertising to children.
